Nano Villanueva Biography: Orlando Villanueva (Nano) is diligent as an artist at the age of 60. A close death encounter inspired him with life that is one can see through his eyes in his paintings. You can find "Nano" dressed with a traditional Venezuelan "Guajabera" shirt and his hat to protect him against the sun on a daily basis. He admires nature and horizon landscapes. "Nano" learned his painting skills from a fellow artist, mentor and teacher, Trino Orozco, a great landscape artist . As "Nano" worked in his ranch raising farm animals, Trino stopped by his ranch wanting to buy one of his farm animals. As he entered his ranch and farm house Trino noticed a small guache painting that "Nano" was working on for his son Jorge. Trino asked Nano who the artist was and Nano responded that it was him. Nano Villanueva at that time was twenty-five as he started to pursue art and developing his painting skills. A poet once described his work as "landscape being like the sun which rises every morning". Nano too feels that every morning he wakes up is as if he was born once again. He opens his eyes and finds himself in a world, his world of paintings which surround him. The same world but, yet a different destiny. Nano Villarreal has participated in many exhibits from Caracas, Spain, Atlanta (Georgia) to San Cristobal, Valencia and La Guaira. He has received many recognitions worldwide.
These are a few of the recognitions and awards granted to Nano Villanueva throughout his artistic life. Original Paintings by this artist available at the gallery.
