Humberto Arriaga
Biography:
I was born on the 26th of June in Cuernavaca, Morelos Mexico. Here is where my love for the arts started. In the city of Cuernavaca is where I was Born and raised and had the privilege of attending and completing my high school
education.
As a child I realized my great passion for the arts. I remember when I was in school, early elementary and high school years, my great affection for the arts always inspired me to participate in celebrating important events such as Independence Day, Easter,
Labor day or any other commemorate day. I would always put my artistic efforts forth and dedicate my time during these important events to drawing a painting or symbol that would be representative of these special days. The best paintings would be published in the school mural and with great honor I can say that mine ware always chosen to represent these special days.
It was not until I finished high school that I decided to enroll in an art institute. Even though I felt that I had great talent for art I knew that it was here where I could not only acquire the knowledge of the different techniques that exist but also my painting could be more formal and exposed among the many painting that already existed in the galleries of Mexico.
I attended the Regional Institute of Bellas Artes in Cuernavaca, Mexico for approximately six months. Even though it was a short time it was quite an experience and not to mention worthwhile. Here I had the fortunate experience to expose my painting at different state levels where I received several awards. This was not
only an honor but it also re-affirmed my love for painting. After this short but worthwhile experience I decided to move to Mexico City where I enrolled at the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana where I graduated with a degree in Architect, division of Arts and Sciences.
As for my career as an Artist, I had the opportunity to collaborate with a group of great and famous painters at an Art Studio which was named after a great Mexican artist, David Alfaro Siqueiros. During my participation here I not only had the privilege of participating or exposing my painting in several art expositions in Mexico
city but I also had the opportunity to collaborate with UNICEF (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund). I donated several of my paintings to this great organization who in turn auctioned them off and all funds received were donations to this organization.
As a painter my profession has been quite short. Even though I inspired to dedicate my self to this profession it became quite difficult due to problems that I had with my vision. It was because of this problem that I was forced to change my career. However, I have never forgotten my love for the arts. Today I continue to dedicate some of my time to painting and drawing.
This is only a past time; maybe a hobby since my problem with my vision continues to be an obstacle.
It has been approximately two years that I decided to start painting again and placing all my efforts to exposing my paintings here in the USA.
