About Us: "Surrounded by art turned me into a collector and I wanted to share my love of art with the community" ~Ruth Casas, Gallery Owner Ruth Casas, gallery owner, art collector and enthusiast opened Santa Anita Gallery located in McAllen Texas on October 25, 2006. This date was significant for her family, because a historical painting is currently exhibited in the gallery which was unveiled during a presentation on October 25th, 1933. This painting was painted by renown Mexican artist, Enrique Du Solier Lareolla and his painting was presented at the World Fair held in Chicago in 1932. This painting by Solier Lareolla is a version of the "Passion of the Christ". Her husband David Casas worked for Halliburton which stationed their family in South America for 25 years. Throughout that period the Casas family traveled to Peru, Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina. After David retired from Halliburton they moved to McAllen, Texas where he opened his oil consulting business while Ruth became busy with restoring the gallery building. Her lifetime passion for the arts which began in South America is expressed in the works represented now in her Gallery. The gallery displays her passion for creativeness and the arts in the building restoration in itself. Santa Anita Gallery is a venue and partner with the local McAllen ArtWalk. Every month over seven galleries in McAllen, Texas including Santa Anita open their doors to showcase original art work from local and outside guest artists.
